My present position at the University of Georgia is for a non-profit department called UGA SNAP-Ed. Through our grant, we offer nutrition classes for low-income families through Georgia. I create materials for these classes, in addition to materials used in-house.
Classic City Postal Service is a small business created by Erin in 2015. CCPS sells tongue-in-cheek postcards and screen-printed pennant flags with a faux-vintage feel. Her vendors have grown to include five locations around Athens, Georgia, and Etsy.
In 2018 I worked as the Graphic Designer and Social Media Coordinator for the Mariah Parker Election Campaign. I began with the creation of her campaign logo and from there went on to design stickers, buttons, yard signs, “door knockers,” and more. As social media coordinator I was responsible for all Facebook and Instagram activity. Mariah’s instagram now boasts 12.5K followers, and her Facebook Page has 3.6K likes.
Though the campaign was just a local County Commission race, we made international headlines when Parker was sworn into office on a copy of The Autobiography of Malcom X after winning by a margin of only 13 votes. It was both exhilarating and challenging to work as a Social Media Coordinator for a campaign that rose to international attention and was covered by news sources such as Independent, News Week, Teen Vogue, and others.
In my social marketing position at UGA SNAP-Ed, I also function as the in-house photographer. These photographs were taken for our 2016 calendar, which featured twelve recipes developed by our nutritionists.
I have been doing small design jobs around Athens for years, often in conjunction with my positions at The Grit and Bel-jean. At Bel-Jean I was responsible for some in-house designing, and at The Grit I was commissioned for my pieces. In addition, I create all my own materials for my band, Four Eyes, including album art and merchandise.
When I'm not designing professionally, graphic design is still one of my most cherished hobbies. Here's just a few things I've designed for fun.
